MICHELLE WIE
Color image of the young golfer, dressed for the links
Photograph signed: "Michele". Color, 7x5. Michelle Wie, born in Hawaii in 1989 to Korean immigrant parents, has achieved many golf firsts: She was the youngest player to qualify for a US Golf Association event (age 10), the youngest winner of an adult USGA-sanctioned tournament (age 13), the youngest player to make the cut in an LPGA tournament and major (age 13), the youngest player of either gender to play in a PGA Tour event (age 14), the lowest round by a female in a PGA Tour event (68 at age 14), the first woman to make a cut on the Asian Tour (2006), and the first female medalist in a US Open qualifying tournament (also 2006). Wie has attracted much publicity and many prestige sponsorships, as evidenced by the Nike cap she is wearing in the photo; she has already achieved much, and is credited with even greater potential. However, acts of immaturity on the course, repeated firing of caddies, and premature boasts (like the prediction of beating Tiger Woods by the time she was 20) have diminished her popularity. Fine condition.
