Rawlings baseball glove ad from the March 1968 edition of Boy's Life, signed by Mickey Mantle in blue ink. Mantle retired from the Yanks and from baseball six months after this ad was published.
Printed Advertisement signed "Mickey Mantle" in blue ink. Color, 1 page, 10¼x13¼. Magazine advertisement for Rawlings' Catcher's Gloves from the March 1968 edition of Boys Life. Titled: "Look for Mickey Mantle with Rawlings/SPRING TRAINING/SPECIAL". 1968 was the last season that Mantle would show up at spring training, at least as a player. He retired from the New York Yankees and from baseball on Sept. 28, 1968, six months after this ad was published. Mantle (1931-1995, born Mickey Charles Mantle in Spavinaw, Oklahoma), a New York Yankees slugger from 1951 to 1968, won the Triple Crown in 1956 and a World Series Grand Slam in 1953. He had a career batting average of .298 with 536 home runs and 1,509 career RBIs. The switch-hitting "Commerce Comet" accumulated a long list of accomplishments, including three MVP awards and a Triple Crown (1956). He contributed to 12 pennants and seven World Series titles in his first 14 seasons while establishing numerous World Series records, including most home runs (18). He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1974. Lightly toned and creased. Page was torn from magazine at left edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
