MICKEY MANTLE
Large 17¾x23¾ color printed bust portrait of Mantle with two smaller portraits of Mantle swinging away
Printed art signed "Mickey Mantle" in blue ink. Color, 17¾x23¾. Print ©1986 Robert Stephen Simon, with facsimile signature. This large print has a bust portrait of Mantle in his home uniform and two smaller portraits of him following through on a swing. One of the smaller portraits, with Mantle in his away uniform, clearly shows the no. 7 on the back of the jersey. The Yanks retired Mantle's no. 7 jersey number in 1969. Mantle (1931-1995, born Mickey Charles Mantle in Spavinaw, Oklahoma), a New York Yankees slugger from 1951 to 1968, won the Triple Crown in 1956 and a World Series Grand Slam in 1953. He had a career batting average of .298 with 536 home runs and 1,509 career RBIs. The switch-hitting "Commerce Comet" accumulated a long list of accomplishments, including three MVP awards and a Triple Crown (1956). He contributed to 12 pennants and seven World Series titles in his first 14 seasons while establishing numerous World Series records, including most home runs (18). He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1974. Lightly toned and creased. Light tear at right edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
