Small slip of paper signed "Happy Days/always to my pal/the Champ", mounted to a slip of brown paper, by middleweight champion Mickey Walker
Autograph Note signed: "Happy Days/always to my pal/the Champ./George [illegible]/Mickey Walker". Black ink notations on mounting paper. 3½x2 signature mounted to a 7¾x2¾ sheet of brown paper. According to the notations on the mounting paper, Walker signed this in 1934.Irish-American boxer Mickey Walker (1901-1981) stood 5'7", earning the moniker "the Toy Bulldog." He was World Welterweight Champion (1922-1926) and middleweight champ (1926-1931), and won more fights than he lost at the heavyweight level. (Max Schmeling knocked him out in 8 rounds, but he fought Jack Sharkey to a draw.) In all he won 109 fights, 58 by KO, while losing 22. He was a charter member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame (1990). He was also a good golfer and painter. Lightly toned. Signature is lightly smudged but legible. Ripples from adhesive, which touch signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
