Mike Corbin (b.1943) is an inventor, founder of Corbin Pacific, one of
the world's largest motorcycle seats and accessory manufactures. Beginning
as a small shop in in East Hartford, Connecticut in 1968, the Corbin company
grew into a multi-million dollar company in a matter of years. In 1970s
Corbin changed the company name to Corbin-Gentry (after singer Bobby Gentry) to
revitalize the company's branding. He operated his business out of a former
woolen mill Somersville from 1974 until the late 1970s when Corbin branched the
company into two coastal divisions. While eastern operations were sold,
Corbin retained ownership of the West Coast operations which became known as
Corbin Pacific. Since the 1980s the company has grown to manufacture, in
addition to motorcycle accessories, body building equipment, saddlebags and even
boots. He has been awarded over 70 mechanical patents, trademarks and
copyrights. Corbin was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in
2000. Bowed. Signature lightly smudged, but legible. Ink stamp (no show
through) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
