Baseball signed by pitcher Mike Cuellar, who tied Denny McLain for the American League Cy Young Award in 1969. Cuellar's pitching helped the Baltimore Orioles win three AL pennants between 1969 and 1971 and the 1970 World Series.
Baseball signed: "Mike Cuellar". 2½-inch diameter baseball. Rawlings Official American League Ball, Gene A. Budig President. Cuban-born Cuellar (1937-2010), born Miguel Angel Cuellar, pitched a no-hitter for the Cuban army team in 1955 before his Major League debut in 1959. He didn't become an outstanding big league pitcher until he developed a new pitch, the palm ball, with which he went 16-11 for the Houston Astros in 1966 (with the NL's second lowest ERA, behind only Sandy Koufax). Traded to the Baltimore Orioles before the 1969 season, the lefty hurler became a key component of an outstanding pitching staff, which included four 20-game winners in 1971, on one of baseball's greatest dynasties. In 1969, he tied Denny McLain for the AL's Cy Young Award. A 4-time All-Star, he won over 20 games in 4 out of five seasons between 1969 and 1974. Lightly toned and soiled, otherwise in fine condition.
