MIKE McCORMACK
Replying to an inquiry, he recalls the funniest moment of his Hall of Fame football career.
Autograph letter signed: "M. McCormack", 1 page, 8½11. No place, no date. At bottom of a typed inquiry from George Wilson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, he writes in full: "George, I can't remember any that were outstanding - I enjoyed every minute of my career. The funniest thing I can recall is Abner Haynes selecting the wrong option at the O. T. period of the A. F. L. Championship Game in '61 when he said 'We'll kick toward the scoreboard'." Returning to football from military service, Mike McCormack (1930-2013) starred for the Cleveland Browns from 1954 to 1962, all but the first of those years as an offensive tackle. His blocking helped running back Jim Brown set running records with the Browns. After retiring as a player, Mike McCormack (1930-2013) coached for many years, including stints as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Colts and Seattle Seahawks. After leaving the Seahawks' front office in 1989, McCormack became a consultant for the ownership group which brought the Carolina Panthers into the NFL. McCormack, a 4-time Pro Bowler, entered the Hall of Fame in 1984. Normal mailing folds. Creased. Fine condition.
