(1902-1980), an Oklahoma Democrat, served in the US House of Representatives
(1939-1951) and Senate (1951-1969), losing his bid for a fourth term.
Monroney was known as "Mr. Aviation" in the Senate, chairing the Aviation
Subcommittee and crafting the legislation which created the Federal Aviation
Administration. The Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma
City trains all air traffic controllers, and maintains the registration
of all private planes. Thanks to legislation authored by him, every new car
on sale must bear a "Monroney sticker" disclosing vital information about
the vehicle. Fine condition.
