The award winning director signs his name on this Roncom Productions
contract from 1961
Document signed: "Mike Nichols", 1p, 8½x11. New York, N.Y.,
1961 January 25. Nichols attests that he is familiar with an agreement of
the same date between Roncom Productions and Friwatt Productions relating to
Nichols' appearance on Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall, to air on March 1, 1961.
Nichols has signed in ink a carbon copy of the document. Mike Nichols
(1931-2014), whose family fled Germany during his childhood to avoid the
Nazis, was part of a successful comedy team with Elaine May. He turned
his talents to film directing, winning an Oscar for The
Graduate (1967) and notching nominations for three more: Who's
Afraid of Virginia Wolf (1966), Silkwood (1983) and
Working Girl (1988). His many other noteworthy films include
Carnal Knowledge (1971), The Birdcage (1996) and the
TV miniseries Angels in America (2003). Lightly creased. Staple
holes in upper left corner. One-half-inch tear at center of left edge, with
three minor tears on upper sides. Otherwise, fine condition.
