scoreboard announcing him as Player of the Decade on Mike Schmidt Day. MIKE
SCHMIDT (b. 1949) played third base for the Philadelphia Phillies for his entire Major
League career (1972-1989), finishing with 548 home runs, 1,595 RBIs and a .267 lifetime
batting average. He was the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1980, 1981 and
1986, and led the league in home runs from 1974-1976, 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984 and
1986. Schmidt was an all-star in 1974, 1976, 1977, 1979-1984 and 1986-1987. The Hall of
Famer won the Gold Glove 10 times (1976-1984, 1986). Few baseball fans would dispute
that Mike Schmidt was the greatest all-around third baseman of all time! Nationally
known artist RON LEWIS has been making sports art, especially lithographs, since 1983.
