Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Johnny -/with best wishes/from 'Doc'/Milburn Stone". B/w, 8x10. Milburn Stone (1904-1980), a former vaudevillian who made his film debut in 1934 in Burn 'Em Up Barnes, is best known for his role as Dr. Galen "Doc" Adams in the long-running Western, Gunsmoke (1955-1975). In 1968, he won the Emmy for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Drama (Gunsmoke episode "Baker's Dozen") and he was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 1971 for his role as "Doc". Only Stone and James Arness, who starred as Marshall Matt Dillon, remained in the cast for the show's entire twenty seasons (approximately 500 episodes); Amanda Blake, who played "Miss Kitty" Russell, the owner of the Long Branch Saloon, left after 19 years. Fine condition.
