Beverly Hills, California, 1961 March 31. Stone signs in ink on a carbon
copy his acceptance of minor revisions to a contract dated Marcy 13, 1961 for
his appearance on The Perry Como Show, to be recorded on April 14, 1961
for broadcast on April 19. Also signed in ink by a representative of Roncom
Productions, Inc. Milburn Stone (1904-1980), a former vaudevillian who made his
film debut in 1934 in Burn 'Em Up Barnes, is best known for his role
as Dr. Galen "Doc" Adams in the long-running Western, Gunsmoke
(1955-1975). In 1968, he won the Emmy for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in
a Supporting Role in a Drama (Gunsmoke episode "Baker's
Dozen") and he was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 1971 for his role
as "Doc". Only Stone and James Arness, who starred as Marshall Matt Dillon,
remained in the cast for the show's entire twenty seasons (approximately 500
episodes). Paperclip formerly in upper left has left an impression, a minor ink
stain, and a ¼-inch tear. Light creased in blank upper right. Otherwise, fine
condition.
