MILBURN STONE
He inscribes and signs the first inside page of a 12-page pamphlet about an historic site "Ranch House" maintained by the US Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton.
Pamphlet inscribed and signed: "To Catherine & Strohm/My dear friends/'Doc' Milburn Stone" on first inside page, 12 pages, 5¼x8. The page is imprinted: "The Ranch House/Santa Margarita y Las Flores/United States Marine Corps Base/Camp Joseph H. Pendleton". Pamphlet describes the home, a historic site in the care of the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California. Milburn Stone (1904-1980), a former vaudevillian who made his film debut in 1934 in Burn 'Em Up Barnes, is best known for his role as Dr. Galen "Doc" Adams in the long-running Western, Gunsmoke (1955-1975). In 1968, he won the Emmy for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Drama (Gunsmoke episode "Baker's Dozen") and he was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 1971 for his role as "Doc". Only Stone and James Arness, who starred as Marshall Matt Dillon, remained in the cast for the show's entire twenty seasons (approximately 500 episodes); Amanda Blake, who played "Miss Kitty" Russell, the owner of the Long Branch Saloon, left after 19 years. Slightly soiled at blank areas. Fine condition.
