Questionaire signed: "Milburn Stone", 3 pages, 8½x11. No place, no date, circa 1954. He has also hand printed his name. Stone responds in ink to 41 of 45 typed questions about his acting career and personal tastes, submitted by Iona Karkmeyer, San Francisco, California. His response to one question, "What is your most recent picture?", [answer] - "Siege at Red River" , combined with his response to "Are you under contract to any studio", [answer] - "Not at present", allows dating of the document to just prior to his run on Gunsmoke. At the bottom of page 3 Stone has affixed his signature to an autograph note: "I deeply appreciate your interest in my behalf. Thank you." Milburn Stone (1904-1980), a former vaudevillian who made his film debut in 1934 in Burn 'Em Up Barnes, is best known for his role as Dr. Galen "Doc" Adams in the long-running Western, Gunsmoke (1955-1975). In 1968, he won the Emmy for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Drama (Gunsmoke episode "Baker's Dozen") and he was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 1971 for his role as "Doc". Only Stone and James Arness, who starred as Marshall Matt Dillon, remained in the cast for the show's entire twenty seasons (approximately 500 episodes). Lightly toned. Staple holes in upper left. Paper separations (¼-inch or less) at right edge of horizontal folds. Nicks at right edge of first page. Otherwise, fine condition.
