was a Payload Specialist aboard Columbia STS-40 Spacelab Life Sciences
(SLS 1, June 1997), the first Spacelab mission dedicated to biomedical studies.
She was NASA's Principal Investigator for a series of experiments flown on
three shuttle missions (1996-1997), exploring causes of osteoporosis among space
