Stage, screen and television actor Milo O'Shea (1926-2013) was
nominated for two Best Actor Tony Wards: Staircase, 1968, his Broadway
debut) and Mass Appeal (1982). The former protégé of Sir John
Gielgud, O'Shea made his acting debut on stage at age ten, and he began his
film career in earnest in 1951. The character actor's notable films
include Ulysses (1967), Romeo and Juliet (1968), Barbarella
(1968), The Adding Machine (1969), Paddy (1970), Sacco and
Vanzetti (1971), The Verdict (1981), The Purple Rose of Cairo
(1985), The MatchMaker (1997) and Mystics (2002), and he has
appeared on television in such miniseries as QB VII (1973) as well
as in made-for-TV movies and in guest starring roles on TV series from
Play of the Week (1961) to The West Wing (2004). O'Shea is
married to Irish actress Kitty O'Sullivan, with whom he once co-starred
in a production of My Fair Lady.
