Price: $95.00
[JOSIP BROZ TITO] MILUTIN STOJANOVIC. TLS: "Milutin
Stojanovic" as Acting Consul General, 1p, 8½x11. San Francisco,
California, 1975 January 28. On letterhead of Consulate General of the
Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to Mr. Danny Franklin, Phoenix,
Arizona. In full: "Thank you for the New Year's greeting which you
sent to the President of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Josip
Broz Tito. We wish you good health and good fortune in 1975. Sincerely
yours". With original typed, metered mailing envelope. Josip Broz
Tito (1892-1980) led Yugoslavia from the end of WWII until his death. The
name of the country had been changed to the Socialist Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia on April 7, 1963. On May 16, 1974, just eight months before
Stonanovic signed this letter, the country's Constitution had been changed and
Tito was named President for life. The country's foreign relations with the
U.S. and Western European nations were generally cordial, and Yugoslavia had
a more liberal travel policy than many other Communist nations. Lightly creased
with folds, not at signature. Fine condition.
