Printed card signed in ink: "Minnie K. Hauck/of New York/May 21st Paris, 1869", in black ink, 5x2¾. American soprano Minnie Hauk (1851-1929) began studying music in 1862, earning a spot in the opera company of Max Maretzek by age 14. She made her debut in 1866 in La sonnambula as Amina, followed by performances in L'étoile du nord in Roméo et Juliette. Hauk then began her European tour, performing at the Grand Opera in Vienna for a short period. Hauk was the first American to perform in the roles of Carmen (1878) and Manon (1885), and had over 100 other roles in her repertoire. Lightly toned. Corners slightly worn and creased. Faint stains. Otherwise, fine condition.
