Signature: "Monica Dickens", 3x1½ card. Monica Enid Dickens (1915-1992), the great granddaughter of famed novelist Charles Dickens, was expelled from the prestigious St. Paul's Girls School. Turning her back on the life of a debutante, she went to work as a cook, a nurse and a factory worker before undertaking a writing career. She wrote many nonfiction books about her experiences, and also authored three series of popular children's books. Her autobiography, An Open Book, was published in 1980. Lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
