Inscribed Photograph Signed: “To Lester/Monty Hall” in black ink. 4x5½. Monte Halparin (b. 1921), better known by his stage name Monty Hall is a Canadian producer, actor, sportscaster and singer mostly known as host of the television show Let's Make a Deal. Hall has also hosted a number of other game shows, including Keep Talking (1958), Video Village (1960) and Beat the Clock (1979), filled in as host on NBC's What's This Song? and P.D.Q. and hosted three children's shows: Cowboy Theater and Fun in the Morning (New York City local programming) and Video Village Junior (1961-1962). Monty Hall received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in August 24, 1973, a Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs, California; Walk of Stars in 2000, and in 2002 he was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame. He is one of only two show hosts on both Hollywood's and Canada's Walk of Fame, the other being Alex Trebek. In May 1988 the Government of Canada bestowed on him the prestigious order of Canada for his humanitarian work in Canada and other nations of the world. He also received the 2005 Ralph Edwards Service Award from Game Show Congress, in recognition of all the work the emcee-producer has done for charity through the years. On October 13, 2007, Hall was one of the first inductees into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, Nevada. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 Daytime Emmy Awards.
