Photograph signed: "Bill Buckner", "Mookie Wilson", "Rich Gedman" and "Bob Stanley", Color 10x8. At Shea Stadium, in the bottom of the 10th inning of Game Six of the 1986 World Series, with the Boston Red Sox ahead of the New York Mets 3 games to 2 and the score Boston 5 New York 4, the Red Sox were one strike away from winning their first World Series in 68 years. With Kevin Mitchell on third and Ray Knight on first, the Mets MOOKIE WILSON fouled off pitch after pitch. With a 2-2 count, he fouled off two pitches. Then, reliever BOB STANLEY threw one in the dirt at Wilson's feet, and the long-time Met favorite skipped rope to avoid being hit. The wild pitch fielded by RICH GEDMAN allowed Mitchell to score, tying the game, and moved Knight to second base. Mitchell and Knight, and Gary Carter who had scored the 4th run, had each gotten two-out singles after Boston had scored two runs in the top of the tenth to go ahead 5-3. Wilson fouled off two more pitches and then hit a slow grounder to Red Sox first baseman BILL BUCKNER, playing well behind the bag. The speedy Wilson most probably would have been safe anyway, but Buckner, trying to watch the ball and the runner at the same time, let the ball go between his legs into right field, allowing Knight to score the winning run. The Mets then won Game Seven to win their second World Series in 17 years. The Red Sox had to wait until 2004, another 18 years to win their first World Series in 86 years. Fine condition.
