Playbill for a production of the comedy Moon Over Buffalo at New York's Martin Beck Theatre, which ran for 309 performances (October 1995 - June 1996). Burnett and Bosco received Tony Nominations (Best Actress/Actor) for this play. A versatile comedienne and star of stage, screen and television, CAROL BURNETT (born in 1935 in San Antonio, Texas) is best known for her long-running (1967-1978) CBS program, The Carol Burnett Show, which won numerous Emmys for both the program and its individual stars. With a first-rate supporting cast that included Tim Conway, Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner, The Carol Burnett Show enjoyed high ratings and resulted in a spin-off, Mama's Family. Burnett, who had begun her career in nightclubs, became frequent guest on the variety shows of Steve Allen, Ed Sullivan and Jack Parr before achieving stardom in the 1959 off-Broadway musical, Once Upon a Mattress, which led to a three-year stint on The Garry Moore Show, for which she received her first Emmy (1962). The following year, she would receive another Emmy for her 1962 appearance with Julie Andrews at Carnegie Hall. The gifted star also starred in feature films, including Pete 'n' Tillie (1972), for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress, and A Wedding (1978), which resulted in a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and Burnett also appeared on Mad About You, as Helen Hunt's mother, a role for which she won an Emmy in 1997 and was nominated for the same award in 1988. Stage, screen and television actor PHILIP BOSCO (1930-2018) won a Tony Award in 1990 for Lend Me a Tenor, and he has been nominated for Tony Awards four times: The Rape of the Belt (Best Supporting Actor, 1961), Heartbreak House (Best Supporting Actor, 1984), You Never Can Tell (Best Actor, 1987) and Moon Over Buffalo (Best Actor, 1996). Bosco, who made his film debut in 1968's A Lovely Way to Die, has been seen in a number of feature films, most notably in The Money Pit and Children of A Lesser God (both 1986) and Working Girl (1988). His other films include Three Men and a Baby (1987), The First Wives Club (1996), My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), Wonder Boys (2000), Kate & Leopold (2001) and Hitch (2005). Bosco has also been a regular on the daytime soap, The Guiding Light (1979), and the series Tribecca (1993), and he has made several guest starring appearances on other TV shows, from Armstrong Circle Theatre (1961) to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2004). JANE CONNELL (1925-2013) appeared in 13 Broadway plays between 1959 and 2001, with starring roles in Mame, Dear World, Me and My Girl and Lend Me a Tenor. She made numerous TV guest appearances. This play was the only Broadway credit to date for DENNIS RYAN, who played a supporting role in Sweet Home Alabama, and has appeared in TV episodes, from Now and Again to Damages, in the new millennium. KATE MILLER (b. 1969), who was making her Broadway debut here, later appeared in a revival of Amadeus (1999-2000). While doing the soap operas (Guiding Light, One Life to Live) like many other New York thespians, she has also made multiple appearances on prime time TV, including Law & Order and Third Watch. Moon Over Buffalo was the most recent of 13 Broadway appearances to date for JAMES VALENTINE, whose earlier roles include the comedy revue Beyond the Fring 65 and King Pellinore in three revivals of Camelot. His TV appearances extend from teleplays of the late 1950s to the TV movie Camelot (as Merlyn, 1982). The first Broadway directing credit of TOM MOORE was the long running hit Grease (1972-1980). He went on to notch Tony nominations for Over Here! (1974-1975, which brought the Andrews Sisters out of retirement; and 'night Mother (1983-1984; also the feature film). He has directed other stage productions from Los Angeles to Boston, and garnered Emmys for directing episodes of ER, LA Law and Mad About You. Fine condition.
