1957 tax exemption form from Twentieth Century Fox signed by Amsterdam
Document signed: "Morey Amsterdam", 8½x3½. This is a 1957 Certificate of Non-residence and Claim for Exemptions from Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. It lists Amsterdam's address as 146 Valentine Street, Yonkers, New York as of Nov. 9, 1957, when it was dated. He claimed $4,700 in exemptions on this form: $3,500 for being married and a total of $1,200 for three dependents. Amsterdam had several television credits in 1957, including appearances on Make Room for Daddy, How to Marry a Millionare, The O. Henry Playhouse, December Bride and The Gale Storm Show. Amsterdam (1908-1996), born in Chicago, Illinois, was a comedian and actor best known for his role as Buddy Sorrell on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966). A vaudeville veteran who had earlier starred on radio and television and in films, he gained a new generation of fans with his villainous role on the CBS soap, The Young and the Restless, while he was in his 80s.
