MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING MOVIE CAST: DOUGLASS WATSON and KATHLEEN WIDDOES
Large black and white photograph (13¾x10¾) of the television film version of Much Ado About Nothing (1973) signed by the two actors, previous stars of the award-winning Broadway version. Extremely rare!
Photograph signed: "Douglas Watson" and "Kathleen Widdoes" in black felt tip, b/w, 13¾x10¾. DOUGLASS WATSON (1921-1989), a veteran of World War II, won a 1948 Theatre World Award for his performance in Antony and Cleopatra and a 1973 Drama Desk Award for Much Ado About Nothing. A character actor in films and television for nearly fifty years, a few of his notable credits include Julius Caesar (1953), Sayonara (1957) and The Money Pit (1986). KATHLEEN WIDDOES (b. 1939) made her major acting debut in 1958, appearing on television in Young Dr. Maloneand on Broadway in The Firstborn. She would appear in six more Broadway productions over the years, and her performance in Much Ado About Nothing portraying the character of Beatrice drew much praise. In fact, she was so well-liked in the role that she starred in a film translation of the Shakespeare comedy soon after acting in the live version. In more recent years, Widdoes appeared on As The World Turns, earning four Daytime Emmy nominations between 1986 and 1994. Corners lightly worn and creased. Ink and pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso. Slight surface creases and dents (not visible head-on). Otherwise, fine condition.
