Black and white publicity photograph of Ali in mock boxing pose with Sylvester Stallone, with an Oscar statue in the background.
Photograph signed: "Muhammad Ali". B/w, 10x8 overall, image 7½x7¼ (one surface). Shown in mock boxing pose with Sylvester Stallone, with an Oscar statue in the background. On February 25, 1964, Ali, as Cassius Clay, knocked out champion Sonny Liston in the seventh round in Miami Beach to win the World Heavyweight title. He was stripped of his title in 1967 for refusing military service. On October 30, 1974, Ali KO'd George Foreman in the eighth round in Zaire to regain the title. Leon Spinks became champ when he won a 15-round decision over Ali on February 15, 1978 in Las Vegas but lost a rematch with Ali in New Orleans in another 15-round decision on September 15, 1978. Ali retired as World Heavyweight Champion in 1979. He is the only three-time World Heavyweight Champion. The film Rocky (1976), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, starred Stallone as Rocky Balboa, a down and almost out boxer who gets a title shot against world champion "Apollo Creed" (Carl Weathers), a champ loosely based on Ali. Fine condition.
