Inscribed Pamphlet signed: "To Dan/ From/ Muhammad Ali/ 2-30-88," 11x8½ overall, folded in thirds to 3½x8½. Titled Is Jesus Really God?, published in Chicago. Brochure concludes with: "If you are interested in the truth about God and your relationship to Him, we invite you to investigate the religion of Islam." Addresses and telephone numbers of Islamic Centers in the Chicago area are listed. Cassius Clay (1942-2016) won boxing's World Heavyweight Championship by knocking out Sonny Liston in 1964. That same year he became a Muslim and changed his name to Muhammad Ali. In 1967, Ali refused induction into the U.S. Army on religious grounds, was convicted and stripped of his boxing title. In 1971, the Supreme Court reversed his conviction. In 1974 he regained his title by defeating George Foreman, lost it to Leon Spinks in 1978 and won it again later in 1978. Ali retired in 1979. Fine condition.
