MUHAMMAD ALI
Eight-page pamphlet, Introducing Islam to non-Muslims, signed by Muhammad Ali. Ali pre-signed this pamphlet with "To", intending to fill out the recipient's name later.
Pamphlet signed: "To/ From/ Muhammad Ali" in blue ink, 8p, 3½x8½, (1 sheet folded into four columns, front and verso). Titled: "Introducing Islam to non-Muslims," published by The Institute of Islamic Information and Education, Chicago, Illinois, 1986. On Feb. 25, 1964, MUHAMMAD ALI (1942-2016), born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr, knocked out champion Sonny Liston in the seventh round in Miami Beach to win the World Heavyweight title. That same year he became a Muslim and changed his name to Muhammad Ali. In 1967, Ali refused induction into the U.S. Army on religious grounds, was convicted, and was stripped of his boxing title. In 1971, the Supreme Court reversed Ali's conviction. Ali regained his title in 1974 by defeating George Foreman, lost it to Leon Spinks in 1978, won it again later in 1978 and retired in 1979. Fine condition.
