MURIEL OSTRICHEThe American silent films leading lady signs with best wishes for a fan. Extremely rare! Autograph note signed: "To Belle Calhoun/Best wishes of/Muriel Ostriche", in black ink. 5x3½ with attached photos at edges (7½x3 overall). Muriel Ostriche (1889-1986) was a leading lady of silent films from the 1910s to the early 1920s. Her some 142 screen credits include 134 starring roles, such as Ruth in The Keeper of the Light (1914), Margot in Daughter of the Sea (1915) and Kate Seymour in Kennedy Square (1916). Other memorable shorts include Robin Hood (1912), The House in the Tree (1913) and Rick's Redemption (1913). A model for Moxie soft drink early in her career, Ostriche was a well-known New York City socialite, fashion model and dancer who frequented banquet halls and restaurants as both a performer and regular patron. Her restaurant dances led to the discovery of Italian actor Rudolph Valentino--The Great Lover. Photographs attached (multiple surfaces). Creased. Lightly soiled at edges. Toned.
