Apologizes to Phyllis Diller for a remark he made about her
Autograph Letter signed: "Murray", 2 pages, 6x8. Santa Monica, California, 1979 March 16. On personal letterhead to actress/comedienne Phyllis Diller. In full: "Dearest Poopsie - I know excuses are futile - was I drunk? Was it the magic of a [illegible] noon? But there it is - the evidence & she looks so manly!! Please Please Forgive! I've just returned from the top of the Andes & am still somewhat light headed with just a touch of the 'squitters' &, if you don't know what it is? - What does it sound like?! For the Public at least - let's pretend things are as they were for deep down in my deepest heart I love you. Thre isn't a particle of you I don't know, remember or want! On bended knee! Ever thine". Australian actor Matheson (1912-1985) appeared on Broadway and in feature films, notably Botany Bay (1953) and Love Is a Many Splendored Thing (1957). He had a recurring role as a bookstore owner in the TV series Banacek (1972). He played the Clown in the memorable Twilight Zone episode, "Five Characters in Search of an Exit" (1961). Some letters of text are light. Overall, fine condition.
