MYRON FLOREN
Signed color photograph of star accordion player of the Lawrence Welk
Orchestra.
Photograph signed: "God Bless You,/Myron Floren". Color, 8x10.
Myron Floren (1919-2005) began playing the accordion at age seven. In 1946 he
joined a "hillbilly" quartet, "The Buckeye Four". Attending a performance by
Lawrence Welk, he was spotted in the audience and invited on stage to perform.
His rendition of "Lady of Spain" so impressed Welk that the band director
offered him a contract at intermission. Floren stayed with the Lawrence Welk
Orchestra for the rest of its celebrated run on radio and television
(1950-1982). He continued to perform until shortly before his death. Several
of Floren's CD's and cassettes are in circulation, including two collections of
popular polkas. Slightly worn at corners. Otherwise, fine
condition
