Check #19, drawn on the Tour Account of the Metropolitan Opera Association at the Fifth Avenue Bank of New York, payable to Nadine Conner for $75. Operatic soprano Nadine Conner (née Henderson, 1914-2003) took her stage name from her first husband. She sang on radio with Bing Crosby and on tour with Gordon MacRae. Her operatic debut came in Faust, in Los Angeles, in 1939. She made the first of her 249 Metropolitan Opera appearances the following year in The Magic Flute, and was always lauded for her Mozart roles. A staunch Republican, Conner took pride in having urged Ronald Reagan at a social occasion to run for public office. Bank processing stamps. Fine condition.
