Self-caricature signed: "I tried -/I really am/prettier - the/picture proves it -/N.C.". Written below her ink portrait of herself. 6x8½. Nancy Coleman (1912-2000) had prominent roles in films of the 1940s, including King's Row, The Gay Sisters and Edge of Darkness (1943), In Our Times (1944) and Mourning Becomes Electra (1947). She was seen frequently on the TV playhouses of the 1950s, and occasionally in series thereafter. She portrayed Abigail Brooks Adams in The Adams Chronicles and Sister Mary Joel on Ryan's Hope in 1976. Her note on this drawing apparently references an accompanying photo, which is not included here. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Normal mailing folds. Lightly frayed at left edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
