NANCY TITUS
Signed letter from the Cosmopolitan author apologizing for the delay in response, saying she's been following her Army husband around the country, and gladly contributing her autograph to the recipient's collection. Extremely rare!
Typed letter signed: "Nancy Titus", in black ink, 8½x11. December 12, 1943. Accompanied by original mailing envelope. In part: "Dear Mr. Bohrer: Your letter has had quite a time catching up with me. It was first sent, by error, to the wrong office in the Hearst Building, where Cosmopolitan is located, and after it finally got in the right hands, it had to trail me all the way across the country. I have been following my husband, who is in the Army...I am so glad you enjoy my stories and quite flattered that you wish to add my autograph to your collection, for I feel I have a long way to go before I add up to much of a writer". Author Nancy Titus wrote primarily for magazines like Cosmopolitan and Collier's Weekly. The bulk of her articles and essays were written in the early 1940's, and seemed to deal with female centered issues and stories. She published one novel, A Dream of Her Own, in 1960. Multiple folds. Light surface creases. Lightly toned. Corners slightly worn and creased. Envelope stapled to bottom left. Lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
