the 1990 film Narrow Margin, starring Hackman as Robert Caulfield, deputy district attorney
and Archer as Carol Hunnicut, a witness in a murder. Gene Hackman (b. 1930) is a prolific
stage and screen actor who earned his screen debut in an episode of Tallahassee 7000 in
1961. After winning Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for Bonnie
and Clyde (1967) and I Never Sang For My Father (1973), Hackman won the Best
Actor Award for his role as narcotics agent Popeye Doyle in The French Connection
(1971). A Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner for the Western Unforgiven (1993), Hackman
earned critical acclaim in such films as Mississippi Burning (1989) and The Royal Tenenbaums
(2001). Although it did not win any major film awards, Hoosiers (1986), in which he portrayed
a high school basketball coach, is considered one of the best sports films of all time. In total,
Hackman has won two Oscars (five nominations), four Golden Globes (nine nominations), and
two BAFTAs (five nominations). Since his last screen role in 2004, Hackman has firmly
retired from the industry, instead choosing to write and publish novels. Anne Archer (b.
1947) who often plays vulnerable spouses, was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress
Oscar for Fatal Attraction (1987). She played Harrison Ford's wife in the film versions of the
Tom Clancy novels Patriot Games (1992) and Clear and Present Danger (1994). Other roles
include The All-American Boy (1973) and Hero at Large (1980). Her TV appearances include
a recurring guest role on Boston Public (2003). Fine condition.
