Photograph signed: "Sincere Wishes/Nat Jackley", in blue ink,
B/w 2½x3½. Nat Jackley (1909-1988) debuted professionally in show biz in
the 1920s, when he appeared in a double act with his sister Joy and later with
the Eight Lancashire Lads. He worked in several comedy duos in music halls
before going solo as a headlining comedian, for which he's primarily remembered.
He also worked with as a character actor, with the bulk of his roles coming
in the 1970s and 1980s, including the TV movie The Ploughman's Lunch
(1983) and series The Spoils of War (1980). His one starring role in
movies was in 1956's Stars in Your Eyes. Pin hole in top right
corner. Toned. Slightly soiled. Paper remnants on verso. Corners slightly
creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
