"Nat" Pendleton (1895-1967), an intercollegiate wrestling champ at
Columbia, won a Silver Medal at the 1920 Olympic Games and then
turned pro. In the 1930s, he began appearing in films, usually cast as a
brawny dimwit. In Horse Feathers (1932), he portrayed a football
player who kidnapped Chico Marx. In The Great Ziegfeld (1936), he played
circus strong man Eugen Sandow. He had a recurring role as the ambulance driver
in MGM's Dr. Kildare and Dr. Gillespie films, and played a police
detective in two of the Thin Man films. His last year in film (1947)
included a role in Scared to Death with Bela Lugosi. Corners lightly
worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
