NATHANIEL BRANDEN
Author Nathanial Branden wrote and dated this note "With appreciation for a lovely interview" in 1971.
Autograph note signed "To George -/With appreciation/for a lovely/interview -/Nathaniel Brandon/3/15/71". 1 page, 7¼x9¾, with rounded right corners. With a 1¾x3 reproduction of the cover to Branden's book The Psychology of Self-Esteem affixed at right edge. Psychotherapist and author Branden, born in 1930, was a member of the so-called "Inner Circle" of Ayn Rand, founder of Obejctivism, as well as an author on Rand, Objectivism and the psychology of self-esteem; his 19 books have sold 4 million copies and been translated into 18 languages. He's best known for his 1969 book The Psychology of Self Esteem. Branden is also known for his romantic affair with Rand, which lasted from 1954 to 1968 and reportedly had the blessing of both their spouses. However, Rand called the affair off and kicked Branden out of the Objectivism movement. Branden detailed this episode in his 1999 book Judgment Day, and his then-wife Barbara also wrote about the affair in her 1986 book The Passion of Ayn Rand. Lightly soiled and creased. Neatly torn from binding at left edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
