5//1896", in black ink, 6¾x4. Nathaniel C. Goodwin (1857-1919) was
a stage actor who also appeared in a few silent films. On stage he
starred in both comedies (A Gilded Fool of Ambition) and dramas
(Nathan Hale). Three of his five wives were stage co-stars: Eliza
Weathersby, Maxine Elliott and Edna Goodrich. His first film role was that of
Fagin in Oliver Twist (1912). In 1887, Goodwin, an avid baseball fan,
negotiated the contract of colorful star Mike "King" Kelly, thus becoming the
first sports agent of note. Toned. Right edge notched and creased. Slight
