Inscribed Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: “To George Fleichman/with my best wishes/Sincerely/Neil Buckley” in black ink. 8x9½. B/w. Neil Buckley was the featured vocalist with Bestor's orchestra for several years, one of them as a tenor. While going to high school in Pittsburgh he was undecided whether to take up an athletic or a musical career. He was a four letter man, winning honors in baseball, football and track. He could run the 100-yard dash in record time, and was selected right end of the all-scholastic football team. His friends prevailed on him to further develop his singing ability and he appeared at various local theaters and radio stations. When Don Bestor went to Pittsburg with his orchestra he decided to embellish his music with a vocalist and auditioned seventy five singers. Neil Buckley was selected and decided to also study operatic singing. He learned more than three hundred songs from memory. His hobbies were golf, watching baseball and football games. Adhesive residue on verso. Soiled, toned and lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
