"Peggy Stewart", Color 5x3½. Actor PIERCE LYDEN (1908-1998), who was named
"Villain of the Year" in a 1944 Photo Press Fan Poll, appeared in more than 125
B-Westerns and serials, beginning with King of Dodge City in 1941. Lyden was inducted
into the Cowboy Hall of Fame in 1979. American actress NELL O'DAY (1909-1989) was
born in Prairie Hill, Texas. A dancer as a child, she appeared in her first film in 1932 in
Rackety Rax. From 1933 to 1940 she continued to star in films like Smoke Lightning
(1933), The Road to Ruin (1934) and Boss of Bullion City (1940). During the 1940's O'Day
appeared as the heroine in several westerns including Pony Post (1940), The Masked Rider
(1941), Arizona Cyclone (1941), Stagecoach Buckaroo (1942), Thundering Trails (1943) and
Boss of Rawhide (1943). Also a stage performer, she appeared on Broadway in Fine and
Dandy (1930-1931), Many Mansions (1937-1938), One For the Money (1939) and Many
Happy Returns (1945). PEGGY STEWART (1923-2019) who appeared in many films,
mostly Westerns, from the late 1930s into the 1960s, was one of Republic Picture's leading
ladies in the 1940s. Tired of being cast in serials, she left Republic, but continued making
occasional films. Stewart later appeared in several made-for-TV movies and was a guest star on
a number of TV series, and she made stage appearances in the Los Angeles area. Stewart, who
was married to actors Don "Red" Barry (1940-1944) and Buck Young (1953 until his death
in 2000), has been a popular figure at Western film and nostalgia gatherings. Fine condition.
