Point guard CHARLIE WARD (Born in 1970) may be one of the most unique athletes of the last century. He is a Heisman Trophy winner and a MLB draftee who played in the NBA from 1994 until 2005. As a quarterback at Florida State University he won the 1993 Heisman Trophy and led his team to a victory in the 1993 National Championship. In 2006 he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Despite not playing any baseball at Florida State, Ward was drafted by the New York Yankees and the Milwaukee Brewers in the 1993 and 1994 MLB Free-Agent drafts. He played basketball in all four of his years at FSU. Ward's disappointment with his low draft rating in the 1994 NFL Draft led him to joining the New York Knicks when they selected him as the 26th overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft. A fan favorite in New York, he helped the team reach the NBA Finals in 1999; however the team lost to the San Antonio Spurs. Ward caused his share of controversies in New York and helped start the bench clearing brawl between the Knicks and the Miami Heat in the 1997 playoffs. He retired in 2005 after being traded to and cut by the Houston Rockets. The fierce and emotional JOHN STARKS (Born in 1965) is the all-time Knicks leader in three-point goals. He was chosen for the 1993-94 All Star team and received the 1996-97 Sixth Man Award. But what really defined his career were slam-dunks. His most memorable shot, and one of the most memorable in Knicks history, was probably made during a 1993 game against the Chicago Bulls. Ewing screened Starks from a blocker during that game, allowed him to fake left and then drive up the baseline to dunk over Michael Jordan and Horace Grant, who were both taller than him. SIDNEY "SONNY" HERTZBERG (1922-2005) played for the Knicks in the 1946-1947 season and led the team in field goals that year with 201. Before his professional career he played at City College in New York alongside long time Knicks Head Coach Red Holzman. Hertzberg left the Knicks in the 1947-1948 season and played the rest of his career for the Washington Capitols and the Boston Celtics. Shooting guard RALPH KAPLOWITZ (1919-2009) played for the Knicks in the 1946-1947 season but was sold mid-season to the Philadelphia Warriors. He went on to help the Warriors win the league's first Championship. The next year his team reached the championship finals again but were defeated by the Baltimore Bullets and Kaplowitz retired from the BAA soon after. Photographer GEORGE KALINSKY worked with the Knicks as Madison Square Garden's official photographer. Kalinsky, also the official photographer at New York's Radio City Music Hall, covered countless events over the last 50 years including the 1970 NBA Finals, 1986 World Series, 1994 Stanley Cup Finals, the 1980 and 1992 Democratic National Conventions, 2004 Republican National convention as well as the 1971 and 1974 Muhammad Ali Vs. Joe Frazier fights. In 2010 he was inducted into the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame. Dust Jacket lightly worn, Otherwise, fine condition.
