Bush, Jr., United States Gypsum Company, Washington, D.C. In full: "I'm pleased to hear about your achievements, and you're absolutely right. Thank you for your Annual 1980 report, and keep the good work up! Sincerely". Newton Leroy "Newt" Gingrich, born Newton McPherson in 1943, was a Republican U.S. Representative from Georgia from 1979-1999, serving as Speaker of the House from 1995-1999 (the first Republican reelected as Speaker since Nicholas Longworth, Theodore Roosevelt's son-in-law, in 1929).
