The Senator pens a letter to a friend referring to a "Discussion", a mortgage loan and a trial for the eviction of a house asking him for help to try to avoid it

Autograph Letter Signed: "N. Estrada y M." in iron gall ink. 10½x8¼. Fully Translated in English: "Habana, November 2, 1898. Sr. Candido Pons. Dear friend: Your letter dated on the 25th of the past month and all the previous ones have arrived to me, I haven't replied to the old ones because I wasn't sure what your permanent address was because the general barrack changed its location very often and I did not want my letters to get lost.  Today I have decided to write you, aware that there is a risk of this letter to get lost, because I have to inform you of important things for the 'Discussion'. So far I have been able to delay the preventive seizure thanks to my pleas to Martin Rivero, who has listened to me and so far it has worked for me. It cannot wait any longer and the trial will continue. If it was only that procedure I could still stretch this situation out until you and Manuel Maria Bernado were here, but it's been three days since the trial was established and it is not possible to indefinitely protract this one unless the immoral resources that you know are not bring into game, I never see, even when it is about saving the discussion. Eduardo, Devernine, and Pellon cannot help me with what I have requested them; they will wait for either you or Armando to come back. Devernine has made a return of the mortgage loan on the house so the eviction from the property took place. It is evident that the house is not in the discussion even if the rentals are paid, because it is not about the biggest or smaller rental or about the best or worst tenant anymore, it is about the needing of hand the unoccupied house over. I don't know what to do in this difficult situation without you, Manuel, Maria and Armando. It is necessary that you send an envoy here to solve the issue, because I don't want to carry with a countless number of moral responsibilities. Thinking that it was a rental thing, Laquemela and I were willing to spend 2 or 3 months reunited funds and contributing to the collection; but as I tell you, it is a matter of leaving the house without the possibility to avoid the eviction. If you or Manuel arrived to the house, I would be able to move the machines before the eviction conflict happens. I was also told that the demands of the redactors will be established. I see the death of the house if you or Manuel Maria don't come to it immediately. I do not tell you anything about politics because we will see each other and chat for a long time. All yours, N. Estrada y M." Nicasio Estrada Y Mora was a Cuban politician who served as a senator of his country. Heavily toned and worn. Normal mailing folds. Multiple notches throughout document. Paper extremely thin. Otherwise, fine condition.
