NICK BOCKWINKEL. Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/David/My Best to/you/Nick/Bockwinkel". B/w, 8x10. Name imprinted at lower margin. Professional wrestling champ Nick Bockwinkel, the son of wrestler Warren Bockwinkel, with whom he started his career, was one of the sport's most famous figures over his three-decade (1950s-1980s) career. Bockwinkel, who won his first American Wrestling Association championship on November 8, 1975, won a number of N.W.A. and A.W.A. regional and world titles, and was equally successful as a singles wrestler and on the tag team with Ray "The Crippler" Stevens (the duo won the A.W.A. World Tag Team championship three times). A sometimes controversial figure, or "heel", Bockwinkel was accused of cheating numerous times, but after his retirement he was inducted into the W.C.W. Hall of Fame and later became a W.C.W. Commissioner. In addition to appearing on two televised wrestling series, A.W.A. All-Star Wrestling (1960) and World Wide Wrestling (1978-1979), Bockwinkel made guest appearances on several TV shows and appeared in feature films. Minor surface creases (most not evident head on). Torn at lower left blank margin (all paper intact). Overall, fine condition.
