Not yet a TV star, Adams used this TLS to promote his supporting role in Sing Boy Sing.
Typed Letter signed: "Nick Adams", 1 page, 6x7. Hollywood, California, 1958 April (no date). On his personal letterhead to Roger Harris, Rutland, Vermont. In full: "Thank you for your nice letter and I am happy to comply with your request. Also, thank you for all those compliments and I hope to continue to live up to all of them. I will be sending you my autographed photo under separate cover as it would not fit in this envelope. [Item not included.] In a few weeks 'Sing Boy Sing' will be coming out and I hope you'll enjoy it as we had a lot of fun making it. Sincerely". Adams starred as "Johnny Yuma", a former Confederate soldier, in The Rebel on ABC from 1959-1961. Among his films were Mr. Roberts, Picnic and Rebel Without a Cause, and he was nominated for a Best Supporting Oscar for Twilight of Honor in 1963. The Rebel had not yet premiered on TV when Adams signed this letter. Here he promotes the film Sing Boy Sing, in which Adams plays a supporting role to singer Tommy Sands. Adams became quite popular in Japanese monster movies in the mid-1960s, including the sixth Godzilla film. Adams was 36 when he died in 1968 of an overdose of drugs he was taking for a nervous disorder. Normal mailing fold in center. Light creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
