Armenian actor NIKITA BALIEFF (1877-1936) found success as a stage comedian in Moscow until the revolution of 1917. Emigrating to France and then to the US, he founded a popular vaudeville troupe. Popular skits by the troupe, named Chauve Souris (French for "bat"), included The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers, made into a 1923 silent film. Balieff appeared in the Ben Hecht film, Once in a Blue Moon (1935). Balieff was married to (H)ELENA KOMISORJEVSKA, a member of his comedy troupes. A star of British stage musicals in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras (San Toy, Dalys Theatre, 1899), HUNTLEY WRIGHT was still playing supporting roles in films of the 1930s (Going Straight, 1933; Look Up and Laugh, 1935).
