rink with Emile Griffith. Italian boxer Nino Benvenuti (born in 1938) won
an Olympic Gold Medal (Rome, 1960). He won all 120 of his amateur fights
and his first 65 pro bouts. He was World Junior Middleweight Champion
(1965-1966), World Middleweight Champion (1967-1970) and "Ring" magazine
Fighter of the year (1968). Benvenuti, who is enshrined in the Boxing Hall of
Fame, retired with a pro record of 82-7-1, with 35 knockouts. Minor surface
creases (not evident head on) at background. Benevenuti fought US boxer Emile
Griffith three times for the world Middleweight title (1967-1968), all 15-round
decisions. Benvenuti won the first and third fights at Madison Square Garden,
with Griffith prevailing in the second match at Shea Stadium. Fine
condition.
