NITA NALDI
Handwritten note with her rare signature, on a sheet bearing a printed photo of her on stage
Autograph Note signed: "To Shirley/My sincere regards/Nita Naldi", 5½x8½. Typed caption date: March 15, 1942. Below the ANS is a book or magazine photo of Naldi on stage. Nita Naldi (1894-1961), born Mary Dooley in New York City, moved up from model to Ziegfeld chorus girl (1919) to a starring role in silent films. She starred opposite John Barrymore in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920), with Rudolph Valentino in Blood and Sand (1922), and in DeMille's epic The Ten Commandments (1923). She starred in Alfred Hitchcock's second movie, The Mountain Eagle (1926). Naldi, who was often cast as a vamp, never made a talking picture, although she returned to the stage after her 1932 bankruptcy. Toned and creased. Filing wholes at left edge. Corners creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
