NO, NO, NANETTE PLAY CAST
Ruby Keeler, Patsy Kelly, Helen Gallagher, and Susan Watson sign their names in blue ink on a Playbill for a production of No, No, Nanette
Show bill signed: "Susan Watson/Good Luck", "Patsy Kelly", "Helen Gallagher", "Ruby Keeler", in blue ink, 55 pages, 6x9. Playbill for a production of No, No, Nanette at the Shubert Theatre in New York. Actress and dancer RUBY KEELER (1909-1993) was featured in Ziegfeld's Whoopee! (1928). She starred with William Powell in a series of film musicals, including 42nd Street (1933). She was married to Al Jolson (1928-1940), co-starring with him in Go Into Your Dance. After the death of her second husband, John Homer Lowe, she made a triumphal return to Broadway in a Busby Berkeley revival of No, No Nanette (1971-1973). PATSY KELLY (1910-1981), the talented Broadway star, dancer, and comedienne, began her movie career in 1933, when Hal Roach brought her to Hollywood to replace Zasu Pitts in a series of two-reel comedies. She was usually cast as the wise-cracking friend of the film's heroine, and appeared in a number of comedies and musicals before retiring from films in the early 1940's. In 1960, Kelly returned to the screen in minor roles in films including Please Don't Eat the Daisies and The Crowded Sky in 1960, and Rosemary's Baby (1968). In 1971, Kelly made a triumphal return to Broadway in a revival of No No Nanette, winning a Tony Award for her performance in the play, which also featured her childhood friend, Ruby Keeler. American actress HELEN GALLAGHER (b. 1926 in New York City) played the character Maeve Ryan in Ryan's Hope, appearing in 787 episodes. For the role she was nominated for five Daytime Emmy Awards. She also appeared on Another World (1989), Law & Order (1993) and One Life to Live (1997). SUSAN WATSON (b. 1938) is an American actress most known for her stage work, starring in four of her eight Broadway appearances. Her first role on Broadway was also her first starring role, appearing as Kim McAfee in the comedy Bye Bye Birdie in 1960. Her other starring roles were in the plays Ben Franklin in Paris (1964), No, No, Nanette (1971), and Follies (2011). However, despite her top billing, her only Tony nomination was for a role in the musical A Joyful Noise. Light ink transfer along left margin. Lightly toned. Corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
