NOISES OFF PLAY CAST
Carole Shelley, Lucy Martin, Paul Hecht, and 4 others signs on a Playbill for a production of Noises Off
Show bill signed: "Paul Hecht", "Lucy Martin", "Randle Mell", "Julie/Boyd", "Diane/Stilwell", "Sandy/Spencer", "Carole Shelley", in blue felt tip, 74 pages, 5½x8½. Playbill for a production of Noises Off at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York. English actress CAROLE SHELLEY (1939-2018) won a Tony (as Best Actress in a Play) for The Elephant Man (1979), and has been nominated for three other Tonys: Absurd Person Singular (1975), Stepping Out (1987) and most recently Billy Elliot (2009). She created the role of Madame Morrible in Wicked (2003). On film, she starred as Aunt Clara in Bewitched (2005), and has been a voice actress in several Disney animations. Her allusion in this letter to an unhappy incident is unclear. When she wrote it, she was appearing on Broadway in The Norman Conquests (December 1975 - June 1975). There was an understudy named Laura (Stuart) in the small cast, and the incident might merit further research by a theatre buff. LUCY MARTIN (b. 1942) has appeared in numerous soap operas, with roles as Tiffany Whitney Douglas in Edge of Night (1970-1971 and 1973-1976) and Jeanne Jessop in Another World (1979). As of this biography, she's appeared in a total of 20 movies since 1970. British actor PAUL HECHT (born in 1941) has worked steadily on stage and in feature films and television since the 1960s. Nominated for a Tony Award in 1968 for Rosenkrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead, he made his film debut six years later as a rabbi in God Only Knows. Also signed by RANDLE MELL (b. 1951) appearing as Garry Lejeune, DIANE STILWELL (b. 1953) as Brooke Ashton, ALEXANDER "SANDY" SPENCER as Tim Allgood, and JULIE BOYD as Poppy Norton-Taylor. Bottom right corner creased. Corners lightly worn. Toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
